How TMaaS Works

TMaaS enables cities to get a real-time overview of mobility information for their city. This page explains the basic building blocks of the TMaaS framework. 

Input

In the TMaaS framework (see image below) – relevant mobility data from global, international and local data sources is extracted from their API’s by Waylay to be filtered and pre-processed before being forwarded to Be-Mobile. We call this TMaaS data.

Processing the TMaaS data

  1. All TMaaS data except for the commercial traffic data that is owned by project partners Be-Mobile and TomTom is processed by Be-Mobile after pre-processing by Waylay. 
  2. In parallel, Ghent University processes the aforementioned partner data in a neutral processing block, creating a merged, neutral data feed.
  3. Both data feeds are then combined by the neutral processing block into one super pack of enriched mobility data.

What do we do with the TMaaS data?

  1. This super pack of enriched mobility data is presented to the city’s mobility manager through a closed API and a TMaaS Mobility Management Dashboard (web interface).
  2. The city decides what part of the TMaaS data is visualised in the TMaaS Citizens Dashboard (web interface). This dashboard offers citizens a real-time view on traffic, incidents and points of interest in their city. Citizens can enter their personal mobility profile into the TMaaS dashboard and opt in to options to receive personalised alerts for their routes when irregularities occur that could have an impact on their chosen modes of transport or routes.
